My coach asked me this question as I was describing the top struggle common to many of my clients.
I paused.
It seemed like such an obvious question.
One that should be simple to answer.
But a quick response eluded me.
Work-life balance
What does that really mean?
The answer will, of course, be different for everyone.
For me, at this season of my life, balance is about having enough time for self-care (a combination of physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual pursuits) so that I can show up the way I want to in my work and in my personal life, and be fully present in whatever activity I’m engaged in.
Do I achieve this balance all of the time?
Of course not.
I’m human.
Plans go awry.
I get sidetracked by urgencies.
Life happens.
But balance is what I strive for.
What I plan for.
I know what I need to perform at my peak, so I plan for it.
I schedule it.
I PRIORITIZE it.
I prioritize ME.
So I can show up at my best for my family.
And for YOU.
