This week, I got to spend a few days with my people.
A group of women physician coaches who are changing the world.
One individual at a time. One program at a time. One day at a time.
I was inspired by being with my people.
Even though I had not met most of them in person before the event, I felt such a connection with this group.
Kindred spirits. A sisterhood.
It was all about connecting and sharing, giving and receiving, without an ounce of competition.
These are the people who make me want to show up as the very best version of myself.
I felt supported. Understood. Loved.
Where in your life do you feel this connection?
Do you feel it with your family?
With your friends?
With your colleagues?
Connection is so important to our health and wellbeing.
Having that feeling of connection with others in our lives is highly correlated with health and longevity.
So make sure you take time for connection in your life.
Prioritize it.
You don’t have to have it in every relationship in your life. But find it somewhere.
Create it. Nurture it. Celebrate it.
Why?
Because this is what life is all about.
People. Relationships. Connections.
Lifting others up, and allowing others to do the same for you.
There’s power in connection. In community.
So find your people. Find your circle.
And choose wisely who you connect with regularly.
Spend time with people who are positive, inspiring, and energizing.
Because their energy is contagious.
This is based on science. Neuroscience.
There are neurons in your brain, called mirror neurons, that sense what they see and feel and reflect that back.
So spending time with people who are happy, positive, disciplined, and balanced will help you create the same feelings in your life.
In the same vein, minimize time with people who are consistently negative, draining, and exhausting.
Their energy is also contagious.
So find connection in your life or create it.
It’s within your power.
You can create it at home or at work, or ideally, both.
Your future self will thank you.
I help women physicians and other high-achieving women create the career of their dreams and a personal/family life that they love, and that includes creating and nurturing connection in their lives.
Here’s to finding the beauty of connection in your life,
Denee
