What’s Your Word?

Happy New Year!

I hope you had some time for connection with loved ones as well as time for rest and relaxation during the holidays.

As we launch into the new year, it’s natural to reflect back on the past year and think about what we want for the coming year.

In years past, there was a heavy focus on setting “New Years’ Resolutions” (I was never a fan).

More recently, there has been a shift towards choosing a “word of the year”. This approach sits with me better.

Instead of committing to an (often) drastic behavior change as is commonly declared in a Resolution, a word of the year is more of a whisper

This word repeated often in your mind, and ideally, mirrored in your actions, represents a shift in perspective, a reminder of your values, continued movement towards what you want to be.

My word for 2023 is SIMPLIFY.

To me, simplify represents letting go of all the “extra” that is no longer serving us.

Get rid of the negative. The excess. The fluff.

Clearing up space for what’s important. What really matters.

I talk about simplicity a lot with my clients. It’s one of my values, and the state of simplicity is something that appeals to many of my clients.

But I intentionally chose the verb form of the word, simplify, because it also represents taking action.

Simplify is a way of DOING (or not doing), and also a way of BEING.

What about you? Have you thought about YOUR word of 2023?

If so, I’d love for you to share it with me.  I’d love to hear the word you chose, and why – what it means to you.

Here’s to 2023,

Denee
